Sh. 5 Billion cannot be accounted for in the sports ministry. The DCI and EACC have launched investigation over the fund which was allocated for sports facilities upgrade through sports Kenya.
The county and constituency based sports officials will be investigated and apprehended. Some of the allocation was lost at the division level sports officials.
Anti-graft agency CEO Twalib Mbarak said that the investigations are ongoing and those found culpable will be charged. The EACC officers are using the report of the Office of Auditor-General for the year 2017/18.
DCI and EACC are also investigating top sports Kenya officials for misusing sports the office and money laundering. The officials allegedly hire professionals to edit entries in the expenditure report of Sports Kenya to avoid being trapped.
