Kilifi women forced to walk long distances after DP Ruto's rallies

Hundreds of women stuck at Mtwapa and Rabai following the yesterday deputy president William Ruto Empowerment rallies at Mtwapa and Rabai in Kilifi county.


One of the Women attended said that they were promised free transport only to be ferried then dumped.



"We were taken to the gatherings by brokers. I believe the organiser could not accept that. The meeting was good. But failed on taking us back home." Maimuna Chai said.



" We are sure that Deputy President William Ruto and Hon. Aisha Jumwa could not allow such but there were saboteurs and as days forge ahead we will point them out, " Karembo Mwalimu added at Mtwapa.






" Though we are not from distant respective areas as Kaloleni women went to Rabai and it's only less than a hundred bobs to reach home. We urge any rally or gathering, attendees to be given first priority, " she added.

Some of the Women in the Rabai rally were coming from Vishakani, Bondora, Tsagwa, Mwandaza, Kambe, Kaloleni and it's environs.


According to Mrs Karembo, the Mtwapa meeting; women were coming from as far as Mwarakaya, Bandarasalama and Lutsangani in Chonyi.

One of the transport organisers said that everyone who was included in any transport means was taken back home safely immediately after the rallies. Only those who left behind probable we thought could have other agendas. " We had enough transport," an organiser said.



No other leader accompanied the DP at the Kilifi meetings citing they are in opposition (ODM). Legislatures from the coast including the governor and Senator revolted the rallies.



"We are waiting for President Uhuru Kenyatta but not Deputy President William Ruto. We are working with Jubilee but not all jubilee officials," Kilifi south legislature. Ken Chonga said.
