Kilifi county government orders companies to close immediately -Kilifi CS Anorld Mkare

With the approval of the Kilifi county Governor, Kilifi county secretary Mr Arnold Jefwa Mkare directed all companies in Kilifi county to shut down immediately. He gave the management of the companies to until in the evening to complete their businesses and close until further notice. The immediate closure of companies will help the county in the virus spread.

Failure to close the companies, the county government will revoke the licences that enable them to operate in the county permanently. The companies will remain closed until further notice.


Several companies like Mtwapa EPZ has been on despite risking thousands of lives. However, the county secretary urged retailers to reduce prices of basic commodities to take advantage of the situation.

Kilifi county companies ranging from the quarry, salt mine, EPZ, building and construction etc will be closed today as one of the measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19.


The announcement comes after dozens who came into contact with the COVID-19 positive status Kilifi deputy governor Gideon Saburi quarantined. Some of them tested negative while others tested Positive of the virus.
