Friday, July 31, 2020, has been declared a Public Holiday to allow for Muslim faith followers to celebrate Idd-Ul-Adha.

The statement was made in a Gazette Notice issued by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i on Wednesday.

Eid al Adha is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated across the world, sanctifying Abraham’s submission to God expressed by the willingness to sacrifice his son.

Muslim leaders have been pushing to have the holiday recognized as a public holiday like Eid-ul-Fitr.
