A police officer shot and wounded his girlfriend on Saturday night in Igembe North, Meru County.
The officer identified as constable David Nyamwea shot Everlyne Njoki, 23, on the right side of the cheek outside Laare Police Station canteen.
It could not be instantly verified what prompted the officer to shoot his girlfriend.
However, it was speculated that she caught her with another man, a fellow Police officer.
A colleague officer who was present witnessed the 9.30 pm event told the investigative police that in the manner of offering first-aid to the Njoki, the said attacker endured escaping to an unknown destination.
“…a combined team of police officers have been mobilised and are searching for him,” said police.
The firearm used in the shooting and 9 used cartridges were gathered at the scene.
