Dennis Wamukota, 26, dies after doing push-ups during Police recruitment exercise in Bungoma

 A potential trainee with the ongoing Kenya Police recruitment collapsed and died on Monday while doing push-ups in Webuye West, Bungoma County.

 

Dennis Wamukota,26,  who was among 300 contestants who turned up for the exercise at Bokoli Primary School, had just completed a 6km run.


After the run, the recruit contestants were commanded to do push-ups and that’s when the recruiters noticed that he had ceased movement.


Wamukota was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bokoli Sub-County Medical Centre where medical officers from the Kenya Police took him for treatment.



Wamukota parents said he was also undertaking an engineering course at the National Youth Service.

He had travelled home to participate in the Kenya Police recruitment in hope of furthering his career, his parents added.

 

Western Police Regional Commander Dennis Ngetich confirmed the incident.
