Radio Africa Group, which is one of the leading media conglomerates in Kenya, has recently published an announcement regarding a major reorganisation plan that will lead to massive job losses throughout the entire organisation.
The multiple challenges that the media industry is currently facing are the primary reason for the company's oversight reorganisation, as stated in an internal memo dated July 17.
The memo claimed that the company was working towards developing a "leaner and more efficient organisation," a step that the company's management acknowledges will require some structural changes. All of the company's correspondents received the message.
You may already be aware that the media sector has recently faced challenging circumstances. The changes have impacted the company model, resulting in unanticipated shifts in organizational strategy and structures.
"As part of our transformation strategy, we are working toward the goal of establishing an organization that is both more efficient and more lean." A portion of the memo reads, "Unfortunately, this will call for some modification to the organisational structure."
Additionally, the letter promises to uphold the workforce's contractual obligations while implementing the planned layoffs gradually.
"We will carry out the exercise in batches, paying close attention to each correspondent's specific contractual obligations," the management said.
However, the document did not specify the exact number of workers affected by the reorganisation. However, it ensured that the staff would receive additional communication at the appropriate time.
